Woke up late today and headed towards New Mexico to get the tow chain loops re-welded. The owner was so nice and the charge was pocket change. Wow, was John ever lucky. Had it been expensive he might have had to hear about it for weeks! We walked a few blocks waiting for the welder to finish and found a really small gun and ammo shop to slip into and warm up. Didn’t hear English until we checked out and the place was crowded. Didn’t dare take pictures! Made me glad we are picking up my Grandfather’s shot gun from my cousin…seems like everyone close to the border carries.
As we were driving home we passed miles and miles of orchards on both sides. Just a few miles after the orchards there were miles and miles of cattle stock yards. The smell was overwhelming even with the inside filter on. Glad we were only passing through.
When we returned to the LilyPad, just as I predicted and of course I let John know about it, we ended up re-buying several things we had donated. Included in the list were large batteries, a refrigerator fan, extra towels for wet dogs and some lite weight shoes for rainy days. I keep reminding John that retirement means not working and not working means no big paycheck…of course that all changes when I want something.
